Week 3

Overrall

In week 3, my position for our team is more like a producer.

I was trying to make sure all the pre-work for our live-action filming gets done. I was working on finding a location, casting actresses, booking cameras and equipment, and planning the production schedules and pipeline.

It is always important to have a good preparation for any kind of shoot.

Location

I had a location scouting day with my teammate Nick. We went to the Barkley’s key shop first, because that’s our favorite location, and we would like to get it booked. Unfortunately, they had another student filming team work there and ruined some of their machines, so they don’t welcome any student filming crews now.

So we had to find another place, check some pubs and restaurants on the street, and find one that is friendly to us and allow us to shoot any morning time.

And at the end, we checked the Shed of SCAD, we like the room they have some machines in, and it has a big table beside the wall. We think that will be a better location to shoot, because we can book it at night.

Actress

I got to meet 3 actress that interested in our project, by posting a cast calling out.

And they are from different majors, but all enjoying acting.

And after our team meeting, we decided to use Carmon Dyken as our actress, because she have a great outlook that really fit our story set-up.

Shotgrid Schedule & Pipeline Chart

And the other thing I did this week, is to organize the schedule and pipeline of our VFX production parts.

I learned how to make tasks in Shotgrid, and try my best to make a schedule on it. I hope that is a timeline that makes sense for every teammate, and no one will feel too much stress.

For our Pipeline, because we only have one modeling person, our schedule will be based on that to organize the shots one by one. We signed different shots to each compositor, and when they haven’t gotten their CG model yet, they should work on a keen tool task and maybe clean-up or Roto works if it is needed.
